Salton Sea Sunset
July 23, 2008
The Salton Sea is a very, very strange place. It is dying. It’s been dying for quite some time. The rate of progress towards this goal seems to be increasing. The light at sunset is quite wonderful there, as there is a mountain range just to the west which shades the sea all the while the sky is still ablaze with the warm smog-filtered light from the coast, reflecting off the cloud cover, when there is enough moisture for clouds to form, which is infrequent and therefore all the more to be savored.
